Softness and flexibility are signs of life, while hardness and inflexibility are signs of death. Those who are rigid cannot triumph or survive in the long run.

Chapter 76

At birth, people are soft and flexible,
At death, they are hard and inflexible.
Green plants are tender and filled with sap,
At death, they are withered and dry.
Therefore, the stiff and unbending is the disciple of death,
The gentle and yielding is the disciple of life.

What's Master DudeWay Say?

Ever watch those old Bruce Lee movies? He had a philosophy, "Be like water." Water is soft and flexible, and it can flow, or it can crash. It's always adapting to its environment, just like we should if we want to roll with the punches life throws at us.

Dudeism Abides

Man, you've got to go with the flow. Life is all about being adaptable, you know? You get all stiff and inflexible, that's when things start to crack. It's like those dried up old branches that snap in the wind. But the young, flexible ones? They can dance in the breeze, man.

Soft and flexible,
Life dances like tender sap,
Hardness snaps, a trap.
