Being humble and respecting the natural state of things. If people live without fear or restrictions, they can truly embrace their existence.

Chapter 72

When people lack a sense of awe, then great awe will be present.
Do not limit their place of dwelling, do not reject the purpose of their birth.
For it is this non-rejection that you are not rejected.
Thus, the sage knows himself, but does not display himself, loves himself but does not exalt himself.
Thus he discards the latter and takes the former.

What's Master DudeWay Say?

Think of the charm and allure of Bilbo Baggins from "The Hobbit". He loves his hobbit hole, his simple life, and doesn't feel the need to show off or exalt himself. Yet, he is pulled into an adventure that brings great awe and respect from others. By being himself, unassuming and humble, he embodies the essence of this chapter.

Dudeism Abides

Just like how the Dude minds his own business, yet lives freely in his apartment, he shows us how to embrace simplicity. He doesn't show off, doesn't exalt himself, but simply exists, and in that simplicity, he becomes an example for others to follow.

Living life with awe,
Embrace humble existence,
Simple is the law.
