True essence of wisdom is often hidden beneath simplicity and that those who recognize this hidden wisdom are rare, hence valuable.

Chapter 70

My words are very easy to understand and very easy to practice,
Yet no one in the world can understand or practice them.
In my words there is a principle. In my actions, there is a system.
People do not understand this, therefore they do not understand me.
Those who understand me are few; thus, I am highly valued.
Therefore, the sage wears plain clothes but carries a precious jade in his heart.

What's Master DudeWay Say?

Think of it like the film 'The Big Lebowski', dude. On the surface, it seems like a simple, nonsensical story about a dude who loves his rug and goes bowling. But if you really dig into it, you'll find profound themes of philosophy, identity, and existentialism. And the Dude, our main character, he's like the sage here. He may look like just another lazy guy in a bathrobe, but he carries a kind of wisdom and tranquility that others can't understand. It's all about finding the deep stuff beneath the surface, man.

Dudeism Abides

Dude, this passage is basically saying that the simplest things are often the hardest for people to grasp. Like, just taking it easy and going with the flow, man. People are always trying to complicate things, but the real wisdom is in the simple stuff. The dude who gets it, he may look ordinary on the outside, but he's carrying a precious gem of wisdom inside. It's all about finding that inner cool, man.

Simple words of truth,
In heart, a jade is held close,
Rare are those who know.
