Satisfaction and peace come from understanding what is enough.

Chapter 46

When the world follows the Tao,
Horses run free to fertilize the fields.
When the world does not follow the Tao,
War horses are bred outside the city.
There is no greater calamity than not knowing what is enough.
There is no greater fault than wanting more.
Therefore, knowing that enough is enough is always enough.

What's Master DudeWay Say?

In the Pixar movie "Toy Story," Woody has a loving owner and a loyal group of toy friends. But the arrival of Buzz Lightyear makes him desire more—more attention, more recognition, more love. Eventually, he realizes that he already had enough. Like Woody, we should recognize that seeking more can lead to discontentment and chaos. Knowing that we have enough is the key to peace and satisfaction.

Dudeism Abides

Find contentment in what you have.

In knowing enough,
Peaceful fields, horses run free,
Contentment is tough.
