The Tao is the source of all things, and balance between Yin and Yang is the essence of life.

Chapter 42

The Way gave birth to unity,
Unity gave birth to duality,
Duality gave birth to trinity,
Trinity gave birth to the myriad creatures.
The myriad creatures bear yin on their backs and embrace yang in their bosoms.
They neutralize these vapors and thereby achieve harmony.
What people dislike are to be alone, to be destitute, and to be unworthy,
Yet princes and dukes view themselves this way.
Therefore some things are increased by being diminished and others are diminished by being increased.
What others teach, I also teach:
The violent will not die a natural death.
I will use this as the principal of my teaching.

What's Master DudeWay Say?

The Tao's process of creation, moving from unity to multiplicity, is reminiscent of George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series (adapted into the TV show "Game of Thrones"). Just as unity gave birth to the myriad creatures in the Tao, one kingdom in the series gave birth to numerous houses, each with its own unique traits and functions. And like the characters in the series, we too must find balance (our own Ice and Fire, if you will) within our lives, embodying both yin and yang to achieve harmony.

Dudeism Abides

Everything comes from the Way, and finding balance in life is essential.

From the Way, all springs,
Yin and Yang in harmony,
Balance life's true king.
