The One unifies and supports all aspects of existence. Embrace humility and simplicity, for they are the foundation of greatness.

Chapter 39

In ancient times, those who attained the One:
Heaven, through the One, became pure;
Earth, through the One, became tranquil;
The gods, through the One, became divine;
The valley, through the One, became full;
All things, through the One, became alive;
Lords and kings, through the One, established order.
Without the One, Heaven would be tainted;
Without the One, Earth would be unstable;
Without the One, gods would be impotent;
Without the One, the valley would be drained;
Without the One, all things would perish;
Without the One, lords and kings would fall.
Thus, Heaven's highest is based on the humble;
The high rests on the low.
Therefore, lords and kings call themselves orphaned, lonely, unworthy.
Is this not taking the humble as the basis?
Is it not so?
Therefore, they have no desire for precious things
And prefer to be like stones.

What's Master DudeWay Say?

The unifying power of the One, as described in the Tao Te Ching, is reminiscent of the Force in the Star Wars saga. Through the One, all aspects of existence find balance, harmony, and support. Just as the Jedi seek to maintain balance in the Force, we should embrace humility and simplicity in our lives, for they are the foundation of true greatness. Recognizing our interconnectedness and the role we play in the grand scheme of things allows us to cultivate a deeper understanding and harmony with the Tao.

Dudeism Abides

The One brings order, life, and fullness. Greatness lies in humility and simplicity.

Force binds all as One,
Humility, simplicity,
Foundation of great.
