Maintain a balanced and grounded perspective, understanding the importance of both heaviness and quietness.

Chapter 26

Heaviness is the root of lightness.
Quietness is the master of restlessness.
Therefore the wise travel an entire day
without leaving heavy supplies.
Even though they have peaceful, beautiful places to stay,
they are not attached to them.
How can the ruler of ten thousand chariots
apply this to his own body?
By being in touch with his own self,
he becomes detached from the world.
When he is detached, he does not lose his place.

What's Master DudeWay Say?

The Beatles' song "Let It Be" shares a message of finding comfort in challenging times through the wisdom of quiet, grounded presence. Similarly, this chapter of the Tao Te Ching teaches us the importance of maintaining a balanced and grounded perspective, understanding the value of both heaviness and quietness. By cultivating this balance, we can remain centered and at ease in our lives, even when facing challenges or enjoying moments of beauty and peace.

Dudeism Abides

Cultivate balance in life by recognizing the value of both grounding and tranquility, allowing you to remain centered and at ease.

Heaviness and calm,
Balance grounds us, brings us peace,
In life's ebb and flow.
